Carole qualified as an electronic engineer but having been practically weaned on her father’s home-made wine, it was not a great shock when she realised that the wine business was more to her taste.
Carole joined what is now The Chalfont and Amersham wine club nearly 30 years ago and served on the committee for 12 years, as both events co-ordinator and chair. During this time, she successfully passed the level 3 Wine and Spirit Education Trust exam. With her husband’s acquisition of a small chain of restaurants, Carole became the restaurants’ wine buyer, researching wines and attending trade tastings in search of a list to suit. Through this Carole began working with the International Wine Challenge, the biggest Wine competition in the world, which she still continues to do, in London and Japan. Having now passed her Wine and Spirit Education Trust Diploma, and also Level 3 Sake exam, she is expanding her horizons by giving presentations and leading tasting evenings to groups wanting to understand more about wine. She also set up her own wine club a few years ago, which runs every month in Prestwood, Buckinghamshire
