As the sixth generation of his family involved in the hospitality industry wine has always played an important part in Richard’s life. His philosophy is simple – wine is to be enjoyed! His enthusiastic, sometimes irreverent, style of presentation supports this outlook. Over the years Richard has had the opportunity to visit many of the world’s wine regions and this has helped him compile a collection of anecdotes and personal observations which make his tastings lively events. A combination of his experience in the hospitality industry and the wine trade has created a wealth of knowledge when it comes to matching food and wine.
Richard has a particular fondness for Madeira, Port and Sherry. In addition he regularly visits Alsace, Austria and Bordeaux. He also lectures on the history of wine and is an experienced “tour leader” on visits to vineyards.
