My professional background has been rooted in the supermarket industry, but it was a growing fascination with wines—sparked by early travels and tastings—that led me to wine education. Over the years, I’ve developed a particular interest in the relationship between viticulture, vinification, and regional identity.

In the 1990s, regular visits to South Africa ignited a deeper appreciation for wine. This evolved in 2010 when I joined a South Oxfordshire wine club run by AWE member Linda Simpson, whose passion for viticulture and viniculture was truly impressive. When she moved away in 2016, I took over leadership of the club, forming a committee and taking on the role of Chairman. Under our stewardship, the It now holds four tastings and two social events annually. I regularly present to the group, often exploring the wines of a specific country or region, and we frequently invite fellow AWE members to lead sessions.

In 2011, I co-founded a wine investment club with two friends, focusing primarily on Cru Classé Bordeaux. It gave me a valuable insight into fine wine markets, ageing potential, and provenance—knowledge I now pass on to students and enthusiasts alike.

It was Linda who inspired me to begin formal wine studies through WSET, achieving a Distinction at Level 3 and completing the Diploma in 2024.

My wine journey has included immersive tours across global regions: Alsace, Galicia, Campania, Bordeaux, and the Loire Valley in Europe; South Africa, and a four-week tour of 85 vineyards across Australia and New Zealand. These trips continue to inform both my palate and teaching style.

Since completing the Diploma, I’ve established two additional wine clubs in South Oxfordshire, each with an emphasis on education and accessibility. I’m passionate about demystifying wine and enjoy helping others gain confidence and curiosity in their wine journeys.
